Do I have to pay to enter Walt Disney World to pick up friends staying at the Grand Floridian? Also, can I drive up to the hotel if I don’t have a reservation there?

    Hiya Donna,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your resort question! How practically perfect that your friends are staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian—it’s a jolly holiday just stepping into such a charming and elegant resort. With its timeless Victorian style and delightful touches of magic, the Grand Floridian feels straight out of a scene from Mary Poppins.

Let’s dive right into your question! I spoke with a Cast Member, and the ways to park at the Grand Floridian are if you are a Guest staying there, a Guest with a dining reservation, or a day Guest visiting someone with a Resort reservation.

The wonderful news is that you're all set since your friends are staying at the Resort! Standard self-parking is complimentary for these scenarios unless you choose the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious option of valet parking, which incurs an additional fee.

To pick up your friends, there’s no need to pay for theme park parking, as the Grand Floridian is a Resort and not within Magic Kingdom. When you arrive at the gate, the security officer will likely ask for your name, ID, the name of the Guest you are visiting, and their resort room number. Once verified, they’ll happily guide you to the best location to meet your friends.

While you’re visiting, don’t miss the chance to explore this practically perfect Resort. One of my favorite shops is Curiouser Clothiers, located on the first floor. It’s brimming with Disney-inspired designer clothing and enchanting souvenirs. It’s a bit like stepping into Mary Poppins’ carpet bag—you never know what treasures you’ll discover!

I hope you and your friends have a truly magical day together at the Grand Floridian. Don’t forget to pause for a moment and enjoy the live piano music in the lobby—it’s the perfect soundtrack for such an elegant setting.

    See you real soon,
