Hi Angileigh, and welcome to planDisney! The drawing workshop at Conservation Station was always one of my favorite activities at
Animal Kingdom. I even use my own journal, so it’s easy to look back at all of my sketches from over the years. They always bring back lots of memories!
Currently, there aren’t any drawing workshops going on at Disney World, but there is an exciting
new animation-themed area coming to Hollywood Studios later this year. The Magic of Disney Animation is an interactive experience that invites us into the animation process, including learning to draw Disney characters with Olaf! While The Magic of Disney Animation won’t be open in time for your visit, I'm wishing on a star that you'll be back real soon to experience it!
In the meantime, I have a few other ideas for embracing your inner artist! Many Disney resort hotels offer art classes to create a painting or mosaic craft. If you go to each resort hotel’s webpage, visit the
Recreation section, and then click the link for the Activities Schedule. Here you can see what each resort hotel offers. The activities are always changing, but for example,
Riviera Resort currently offers both painting and mosaic workshops. There’s also a
Spanish Mosaic Art class at
Coronado Springs Resort that you can book in advance online. I made one of these pieces last year with my friends and hung it up in my kitchen when I got home. It definitely adds a bit of pixie dust to the room!
Another fun craft to look out for is over at the
Glaskunst stand in
EPCOT. Sometimes they have a fused-glass activity where you can make your own custom keepsake, like a picture frame or plate. My friend made a nightlight, which is both one-of-a-kind and practical!
I hope this gives you some ideas for your visit this weekend. And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney!
