Bright Suns, Michael!
I am thrilled to hEAR you and your party will be exploring the planet of Batuu in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at
Disney’s Hollywood Studios! I know the boarding group for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is highly sought after, and I’m happy to discuss how to join the Virtual Queue!
The first thing you need to do is ensure that you and your party of 6 all have your
Disney Park Pass reservations made for Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the date of your arrival.
Now, to secure a boarding pass for this attraction, make sure all Guests in your party are connected through your
Family & Friends list on your
My Disney Experience Mobile app. The Virtual Queue system for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opens up at 7 AM and 1 PM. Your best bet would be to try joining the boarding group at 7 AM, and if your party is unsuccessful, don’t give up. The queue will become available once again at 1 PM, giving you another chance at joining a boarding group then!
The good news is, you do not have to be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios to join the 7 AM queue. My family likes to have our alarms set at 6:50 AM, so we’re awake and ready to join the Virtual Queue from our hotel room.
To join a boarding group, you will want to open up your My Disney Experience Mobile app and scroll down a bit on the home screen until you see “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - Request Access with Virtual Queue.” When it gets closer to the 7 AM mark, select “Join” BEFORE 7 AM or 1 PM. This will take you to a page that will tell you boarding has not yet begun; however, this is the screen you will want to stay on, and *as soon* as your party sees the clock strike 7 AM, pull down on that page for it to refresh. The app will tell you once boarding groups are filled. My family goes as far as to pull up an actual clock that counts down the seconds on Google, so we can’t refresh at the very moment we see 7 AM appear.
If someone in your party gets a boarding group, they can enroll everyone in your party together. Usually, the app can tell who all in your connected party has a park pass reservation for Disney's Hollywood Studios and selects them automatically, but just make sure the entire party is selected before hitting the confirm button.
I can feel the Force is strong with you, Michael! I'll be sending you and your party all the faith, trust, and pixie-dust in hopes you get to experience this incredible attraction!
’Til the Spire.
