We are a party of 10 (2 families, 6 children) who will be visiting WDW in 11/2015. We can't seem to decide whether to book AKL or BLT. We want to make it the best visit for our first-time guests. Should we split our stay? Please help.

    Hello Fleur!

We too like to vacation at Disney with our family and friends, and Disney Deluxe Villas are the perfect way to enjoy our time together, while still each having our own space. Your problem is a good one, since you are deciding between two wonderful resorts. They each do have their benefits so I think the decision depends on what is most important to you. With first time guests, I would avoid a split-stay. Since there is so much to see and do, I think it would be nice to avoid having to move mid-trip.  This might make the trip seem more rushed than it needs to be.

If the children are younger, and you will be spending a lot of time at Magic Kingdom, or you have multiple strollers, Disney’s Bay Lake Tower might be a good choice. Since you can walk to Magic Kingdom, and monorail to Epcot without having to fold up a stroller, families of little ones find this location to be super convenient. Add in character dining at Chef Mickey’s, and being able to see both Wishes and The Electrical Water Pageant from the resort, and your first time guests are sure to find their stay truly magical!

If you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere, and a feeling that you have escaped the everyday, then Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas is a perfect choice. We prefer this resort because after a busy day with four children in the parks, I have a true appreciation for coming home to the quiet lighting and soft drumbeats at Kidani Village. My school age boys love the cultural and educational activities at the resort such as night vision animal viewing, drum circles, and learning about the animals and culture of Africa. We can spend an entire day just enjoying all the resort has to offer.

I hope some of this helps you decide which resort will work best for you. Whichever resort you choose, your friends are bound to have a memorable trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Sending decision making pixie dust your way!
