If we have a party of 8, would it be better to get 2 rooms in a less expensive wdw resort or to put everyone in one villa style wdw resort?

Hi, Melissa!  I am going to answer your question with a question.  How well do you all get along?

I have traveled with extended family before, and I can tell you that I LOVE the convenience of the washer and dryer and the full kitchen in the villas.  It's wonderful to know I can throw some clothes into the washing machine and not have to pack so much.  I also know that I can save some money by planning to do some meals - at least breakfast - at the villa, using the nice kitchen facilities that are provided.

The downside to the villa that will accommodate everyone is the lack of privacy.  With eight people in the party, you will have two people on the sofa bed in the living room, which gives them no privacy at all, and it also makes it tough to use the kitchen or laundry facilities while those people are sleeping.  The bedrooms each have a television, so that won't be a problem.

You also have to remember that even though the villas are spacious and roomy, that's a lot of togetherness.  You don't say how many of the eight people are children, but even a couple of them can make quite a bit of noise, and someone might snore or sleep walk.  I'm not saying it can't be done - I've done it plenty of times - but make sure you know what everyone is getting into!  Some of our best vacations are ones with the whole family, but we also try not to do the same things together every day, and we do spend a couple of dinners apart.

    Have a wonderful time!
