hi! We will be 3 parties coming to disney in sept. 2 parties staying at GF and the 3rd at AKL. Since we are coming in from Canada, expensive cell phone charges are not really desirable. Are inter resort phone calls free? Or can walkie talkies be an option?

    Hi Jean-Phillipe!

Local calls made from your room telephone are free. This can be a great option to keep in touch with your friends who may be lodging at a different resort.

Within a single resort, walkie talkies or the popular FRS handheld devices may work most of the time. However, it may depend on just where in the resort you are. We have used the FRS radios when our kids want a few minutes at the resort's arcade. My husband and I can enjoy a cocktail or the scenery while staying in touch with the kids thanks to the radios.

Another option, might be to purchase a pre-paid phone card. These cards will allow you a certain number of minutes and can be used for the phone calls which are not free (or if you'd like to call back to the resort from a theme park for example).

I hope this helps! Enjoy your visit!
