Hi Jessica, and welcome to planDisney! This year’s
Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend will be an absolute treat with its fun food-themed races! The
half marathon is one of my favorite races because it’s the only one with included post-race festivities and a Disney Promo Card, which are such amazing bonuses! So I’d be happy to answer your question about your husband’s event ticket.
Unfortunately, tickets for the
Post-Race Party are nontransferable and nonrefundable, so you wouldn’t be able to apply the ticket to a regular theme park ticket. In general, I’ve found that special event tickets, like the ones for post-race and holiday parties, aren’t interchangeable with standard theme park tickets. But I’m wishing on a star that your husband is able to attend the event.
The Post-Race Party has such a fun vibe, and it’s the practically perfect way to celebrate alongside your fellow athletes! I love to stroll around the park and replenish calories at the different
Global Marketplaces. As part of your half marathon registration, you get a $15 Disney Promo Card, which I like to use on a treat or two at the food booths. Look out for an email with the promo card details about a week before the race weekend.
If you love meeting characters, there are usually a few rarer ones at the event. Be sure to get in their queues early since the lines can get long as the night goes on.
I also wanted to share two tips for making the most out of the Post-Race Party. First is to hydrate! Between the early morning race and the late night party, it’s a long day. If you keep your water or sports drink bottle from the end of the race, there are
plenty of places to fill them in the theme parks and at the resort hotels. To find the closest one, open the
My Disney Experience app, search for Water Bottle Refill Stations, and press Find on Map.
Speaking of that long day, my second piece of advice is to take a midday nap! With the Post-Race Party ticket, you’re able to enter
EPCOT starting at 5:00 P.M., five hours before the party officially begins. So I usually skip buying a regular park ticket for that day. My typical post-race ritual is to shower, eat a hearty brunch, nap, and relax at the pool. By late afternoon, I’m refreshed and ready to head to EPCOT for the party!
Good luck with your training, and don’t forget, Every Mile is Magic. Even during those last challenging long runs! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
