We will be participating in the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage on July 22, 2013. What kind of food is served prior to departure? Curious if we should have dinner beforehand? We have a reservation at 630 in MK. Not sure if we have time to keep that res.

Hi, Holley! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your great question! My family recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage after a fun day in Magic Kingdom Park and dinner at Citrico's. Pirates & Pals is a very entertaining and memorable experience -- I'm sure your family will enjoy it as much as mine did!

Which type of restaurant have you booked? If you are planning to dine at a non-Character dining location (such as the Plaza Restaurant, Tony's Town Square or Liberty Tree Tavern), you should be fine with your timing. I would recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early and informing your host/hostess and server of your schedule so that you can be finished with your meal and ready to ride the Resort monorail loop one stop to the Contemporary Resort by 8:00/8:15. If, however, your reservation is for a Character dining experience (Cinderella's Royal Table or Crystal Palace), you may not have enough time to enjoy your meal and visit with the characters/princesses. I would strongly suggest modifying your reservation time from 6:30 to 6:00 if at all possible. Your Pirates & Pals experience begins 1-1/2 hours prior to the start of Wishes. On July 22nd, Wishes is scheduled at 10:00, so you will want to plan to arrive at the Contemporary Resort by 8:30.

Yes, definitely have dinner before your Pirates & Pals Voyage. The pre-cruise pirate booty typically includes popcorn, cotton candy, brownies, Mickey ice cream bars and other frozen treats, a specially themed Pirates & Pals sheet cake and my personal favorite -- Belgian chocolate gold foil-wrapped coins! There is also a selection of hot and cold beverages (coffee, tea, milk, water, lemonade, hot chocolate).

I hope this information helps you with your planning. Wishing you a swashbuckling good time during your Pirates & Pals Voyage on the Seven Seas Lagoon! Aaargh, it's a pirate's life for you!
