Linda,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Many of the restaurants in the Walt Disney World theme parks have robust gluten-free menus that you can easily review. As an example, if you go to the menu page for Columbia Harbour House in the Magic Kingdom, you will find they have a section of the menu that reviews all their Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly menu options. The other real plus here is that they don't just slap one or two menu items down there, ones that they already had and just happen to be gluten-free. Instead, Disney has done a lot of work to add options here for their guests that are great choices for any diner.
Many of the restaurants go a bit further and list menu items that classify as allergy friendly for these foods.
- Egg
- Milk
- Peanut/Tree Nut
- Sesame
- Soy
BONUS TIP #1If you are unsure about a particular menu item, at the counter service restaurants they can bring you the ingredient binder for their locale. At table service restaurants you can get tremendous support as well, including visits from the chef to walk you through the entire menu. One of my daughters has both shellfish and tree nut allergies, and the chef's visit at
Flying Fish was the highlight of her first Walt Disney World visit, all those years ago!
BONUS TIP #2The
Disney Eats website helps review other food options, often highlighting allergy-friendly options at special events.
