Welcome to planDisney, Patricia! Any chance you are lacing up your trainers and running with us?
We are just one month away from
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. The weekend includes a 5k on Friday, April 19; a 10k on Saturday, April 20; and a 10-miler on Sunday, April 21. There is also a runDisney yoga event on Thursday, April 18 at
Disney's Hollywood Studios. The race routes have not been announced yet. Hopefully, they will be in the next two weeks.
Although we do not have the guides for this upcoming weekend just yet, typically the races start around 5:00 am and are complete before the parks open. Yoga, too, is early with the deep breaths and stretches starting at 5:00 am.
Traditionally, the 10k and 10-miler races have started and ended at
EPCOT. I did the 2022 Tower of Terror 10-miler, and it went through EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. With two of the 2024 races being the Adventure is Out There 10k and Hakuna Matata 10-miler, I am hoping these may include some time in
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
For guests of
Walt Disney World Resort who are logging all of their miles inside the theme parks, the runDisney events should not be too disruptive. There may still be heavier traffic in the early hours on Saturday and Sunday as athletes are heading back to their homes and homes away from home, but the runners should be out of the parks and enjoying a banana and Powerade before the parks start welcoming guests.
If you have any other questions, please come back to
planDisney as your trip to the Most Magical Place to Race is quickly approaching.
See 'ya real soon!
