Ahoy, Mary!
I recently returned from the exact same sailing you are looking forward to on the newly re-imagined Disney Wonder next month! And just like you, my family drove to
Port Canaveral and utilized the on-site parking available to cruise Guests. It is super easy to navigate as the deck is located adjacent to the cruise terminal. At this time, parking for a three-night cruise is $64.00, but is always subject to change.
When you arrive you'll want to stop at the curb after you enter Disney's area at the port. You'll leave your tagged bags (be sure to put one tag on each bag you want to check before you arrive) with the porters there, and they will make sure your luggage arrives safely outside your stateroom door later that afternoon. Any family members who want to go ahead and enter the cruise terminal can be dropped off as well. But, the deck is not a far walk from the terminal so this is optional. Once the car is parked, you'll walk over to the terminal and proceed through security (level 3 offers a bridge over). Be sure to keep your passports or birth certificates and your cruise documents with you in your day bag along with any medications. Your family will all need to be present for check-in, which will be after passing through security.
I've sailed with other cruise lines before and in my opinion, Disney Cruise Line's arrival and departure process is as smooth as they come. The parking area is secure, and your car will be protected from the Florida heat since it is covered. When you arrive back to the port, you can take your own luggage or the porters will assist you all the way to your car. Just let one know you would like help when you enter the luggage pick-up area.
I hope I've given you a good idea of what to expect when you arrive at Port Canaveral in just a few weeks, Mary!
Bon Voyage!
Nancy
