Do you have to be in the park to do the Star Wars reservation at 7am on the day of, or can you do that from your hotel room through the app?

    Hi Stacy,

I see that your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just a couple of weeks away! Are you practically BURSTING with excitement and anticipation?! If you need some packing tips or ideas to countdown the days until your vacation begins, planDisney has you covered!

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is so much more than an attraction; it's an experience! My family and I were blown away when we were finally able to experience it last December. I think you're going to LOVE it, and I'd be happy to share some tips to help you reserve your spot in the virtual queue. First, no...you no longer need to be in Disney's Hollywood Studios to be able to access the virtual queue at 7:00 AM. You'll be able to use the My Disney Experience mobile app from the comfort of your Disney Resort hotel room or wherever you're staying, and it's completely fine if you're still in Mickey Mouse pajamas! The night before your Disney's Hollywood Studios visit, make sure you have the most updated version of the My Disney Experience mobile app, and use a data speed tracker to compare speeds over Wi-Fi versus your cellular network to see where you can find the fastest internet connection. Then, set your alarm to make sure you wake up early enough! A few minutes before the window opens, I'd recommend closing out any apps you have open and double checking the data speed tracker to make sure your connection is still strong. You'll then want to log into the My Disney Experience mobile app with a fresh session. If you have someone else staying with you, have them check the official time and count down the seconds before the clock strikes 7 am. You'll see an option to join the virtual queue on the home screen, or you may click the three horizontal lines and choose "Virtual Queues." Keep pulling down to refresh your app until you're able to click the blue button to "Join Virtual Queue" at exactly 7:00 AM. It will confirm you want to join the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and ask which Mouseketeers from your Family & Friends list you'd like to have join you, but it should automagically already select everyone who has a Disney Park Pass Reservation for Disney's Hollywood Studios that day. My advice? Don't focus on the details; just keep clicking the blue "Join" buttons as fast as you can until you see that magical screen with your Boarding Group number. Groups fill up super quickly, so I'm sending pixie dust that you'll be able to join a Boarding Group at 7:00 AM. If, however, you don't happen to get one, please don't forget that you can try again at 1:00 PM! You do need to make sure that everyone in your party is in Disney's Hollywood Studios to be eligible for the 1:00 PM Boarding Group distributions, though. Other than that, you'll follow all the same steps at 1:00 PM.

I hope this is helpful, Stacy, and please don't hesitate to come back and see us again at planDisney if we can help with anything else. I hope you have a truly magical vacation!
