Do the park passes & meal plan have to be for the same amount of days? Ex: arriving 1st day and dining downtown disney and not using a theme park pass.

    Daniel,

The dining plan will be based on the number of nights that you are staying in a Disney resort.  The number of days on your park ticket will not affect that in any way.  So if you will be staying in a Disney resort for 10 nights but only have 2-day park tickets, no matter - your meal plan will still be for 10 days (nights).  You will need to check in to your resort to receive your room key and have access to the dining plan credits, so just make sure you allow yourself enough time to check in at the resort before heading out to eat.

    Enjoy your vacation!
