Welcome aboard, Ederne! I'm really excited for you to experience not only a sailing with Disney, but some special one-on-one time with your daughter!
My family and I usually sail together, but a few years ago, my son and I had the opportunity to sneak away for a Mother-Son cruise on the Disney Magic. It was honestly one of my very favorite experiences because we had a whole week to spend quality time together, enjoying the amazing family activities onboard the ship and some action-packed Port Adventures too! We bonded over trying new food at dinner. My son was just four and happily tried escargot one night! I'm not sure he would have done that at home! We played games at the dinner table, still remember to this day some of the jokes our wonderful dining servers shared with us, and enjoyed our nights out in the Walt Disney Theatre experiencing the fabulous Broadway-style shows, then skipping down the halls back to our stateroom singing and holding hands. These are memories I truly cherish with my son who is growing up too quickly before my eyes now!
When he wanted to participate in the super cool activities in the
Oceaneer Club and Lab, I checked him in and headed on my own to the spa, the Quiet Cove Pool, or to some of the Adult Exclusive programming, since Disney offers
something for everyone, parents and kids alike. There are even events for parents or other adults sailing solo!
During the club's Open House hours, he showed me around "his" space in the clubs, where we made Flubber, exploded volcanoes, and enjoyed dance parties. We get to do these fun things whenever we sail with our whole family, but there was something so much more special when it was just the two of us. You're really in for some magical memories with your daughter, Ederne! Happy planning!
