My parents are taking us to Disney in Sept, with our 2 yr old son. While we are no strangers to the park, my dad is on chemo. I want a character breakfast, but he has to be extra careful with buffets. Can he still go with us and get something else?

Hi, Tracy!  I'm so excited for you that you get to take this trip with your parents!  Trips with my mom and dad are among my very best memories!

The restaurants that feature a buffet meal do not have an alternative menu.  If the food is a concern for your dad, you can have a member of the culinary staff walk him through the buffet to discuss the foods that would be safe for him to eat based on his dietary requirements.  They will talk to him about what foods are safe for him to eat, and consider the ingredients used in each of the buffet items in order to come up with a plan regarding what would be the best choices for him.

If the exposure to the other guests is an issue, you may want to have him tell you what he'd like to eat.  Then you can send another member of your party to the buffet to prepare a plate for him.  That will help to minimize his contact with others.

I hope this is among your most magical of vacations!
