Hello Lauren!
Welcome to
planDisney! Thanks for sending your question to us. My parents are also part-time residents of the Sunshine State, and I'd be happy to share how this works with purchasing theme park tickets for their grandchildren.
Walt Disney World offers
exclusive theme park tickets and Annual Passes specifically for Mickey Mouse's closest neighbors (residents of Florida or those who rent or own property in the state). All Guests ages 18 and older entering the theme parks with Florida Resident tickets must show a photo ID and
proof of residency before using their theme park admission.
If your children are minors, they can visit the theme parks as your parents' guests when you travel together. Before initially using the tickets, your children and parents must stop by Guest Relations, a theme park ticketing window, or the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs to present proof of residency and activate the tickets. When we vacation as an extended family, my parents typically secure tickets for my children, but if my parents aren't with us, I purchase
standard theme park tickets.
I hope this is helpful, Lauren, and you have an incredible family adventure. My parents love taking my children to Walt Disney World so much that they recently became Annual Passholders. Now, they join us all the time, and when we're back home, they enjoy spending time in the parks as a retired couple. Even though they've been visiting Walt Disney World for over forty years, there's always something new to experience in the parks and resorts. Hopefully, your parents have a fantastic time too! Thanks again for writing to planDisney, and we look forward to welcoming your family "home" soon.
Betsy
