My parents and I are coming to Walt Disney World next October in 2011. I am 20 years old and just had gastric bypass and we plan on coming to celebrate one year since surgery. How far in advance should we buy tickets?

Hi, Meg!  Welcome to Loser-ville!  I am five years post-op gastric bypass, and have loved the life it's given me!

Are you just planning to buy tickets, or are you planning an entire vacation?  Park passes are something you can purchase when you arrive, or you can order online.  I always like to order tickets online at least 30 days ahead of time, just so I'm certain they are in my hands before I leave.

If you are looking to do the whole vacation package, I would say give yourself at least six months to get your ducks in a row.  You can start booking your dining reservations and some tours and activities 180 days in advance, so I like having my resort reservation already booked and some of my days planned by that point.  Some restaurants book very quickly, so it's better to know ahead of time a general schedule for your trip.

Congratulations on making the decision to have the surgery.  I know it wasn't an easy one, and I wish you much success on your journey!
