Hello Mom's Panel! Can you tell me what restaurants at Disney World are best for a diabetic to try? Thank you.

    Hi Donald!

The great news is that Walt Disney World does an amazing job at accommodating all special diets, including diabetic.

Prior to your vacation, make sure to note that you are diabetic on the Advanced Dining Reservation. You will also want to make sure to bring your carb-count guide that provides general carb counts for the general types of food, as most of the dining locations do not keep nutritional information, such as carb counts, on hand.

If you are looking for low-carb options, I highly recommend Coral Reef. They have excellent fish options that you can get prepared without any breading. At Be Our Guest for breakfast you can get an excellent dish with scrambled egg whites that is low carb.

You can also contact special.diets@disneyworld.com if you have any questions or would like to know the carb counts in specific food items prior to your vacation.

Also make sure to familiarize yourself with the First Aid stations throughout the parks, just in case you need a place to change your pump, store your insulin or dispose of any used sharps.

    Magically,
    Stacy
