Hello there, Erin! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
If you're an uber Walt Disney World fan like me, then there's no limit to the amount of knowledge you can consume about the "Man Behind the Mouse." My husband gifted me a
Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour for my birthday during our trip a few years ago, and it was the best present he's ever given me!
This five hour, in-depth tour takes you throughout the
Magic Kingdom Park, both "on-stage" as well as behind the scenes and underground. I highly recommend taking the first tour of the day, which is typically 8:00 AM, to get ahead of the crowds and the heat. When you check-in at Town Square Theater, you'll get to place your lunch order, and you'll be given a VIP Tour name tag with an earpiece, which is an invaluable part of the experience. Since there is only one tour guide for your group, the earpiece comes in handy, especially since you'll be learning lots of fun trivia and little-known facts throughout the day. I don't want to spoil any of the magic for you, but I will give you two pieces of advice: wear comfy shoes and come prepared with lots of questions!
Cast Members in the Parks, including tour guides, typically do not accept tips (the exceptions to this would be at at the
Harmony Barber Shop,
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or
Pirates League). At the end of your experience, if you feel your Keys to the Kingdom tour guide has gone above and beyond, feel free to send an email to: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com. Millennials often take to Twitter with their compliments (@WDWToday #CastCompliment). Managers sometimes give out a printed version of the tweet and recognize the Cast Member.
I hope you have a magical trip in a couple of weeks, Erin!
