Hi Amber,
I was so excited to see your question! As a mom to 3 boys myself (mine are 15, 12 and 6), I can totally relate to your question.
Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice -
Boma - Flavors of Africa and
Whispering Canyon Cafe are actually 2 of my family's favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World! Both settings - Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort - are absolutely breathtaking and worth a visit all on their own. If your sons are anything like mine, they have huge appetites after a full day in the parks, and both spots offer great options - an all-you-care-to-eat buffet at Boma with a wide variety of delicious offerings (including Zebra Domes, one of my all-time favorite desserts!) and the unlimited skillet option at Whispering Canyon Cafe that comes piled with cornbread, pork ribs, pulled pork, roasted chicken, beef strip loan, sausage, vegetables, potatoes, corn on the cob and baked beans - oh my! Not to mention the bottomless milk shakes. Yum!
If I had to choose just one, I'd give a slight edge to Whispering Canyon Cafe, mainly because it adds the extra element of Disney fun. Dining here is a real experience and the Cast Members who serve you really get into the fun. There are so many running gags involving ketchup and straws and much more. I don't want to ruin any surprises for you here, but I know your whole family would have a blast!
I hope that helps with your planning, Amber, but please write back if we can help with anything else as you make your pixie-dusted plans.
Wishing you a most magical vacation!
Beth
