Hi Leah!
It is always so hard to predict what the crowds are going to look like at the
Walt Disney World Resort at any time of the year, but the holiday season does generally seem to attract more people. Guests want to experience all of the
pixie-dusted holiday enchantment that can be found throughout the Walt Disney World Resort! That being said, the second week in December is generally still lighter than later in the month, because the normal "Christmas crowd" has not arrived yet.
Of course, although we still do not have an exact opening date for
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, we do know that it is set to open in late fall of 2019. Judging by the recent popularity of Pandora - The World of Avatar and Toy Story Land, this new immersive land will definitely draw Guests to the parks, and may even bring in new Guests that have never visited before. This could potentially create higher than average crowds throughout the Walt Disney World Resort for some time.
That being said, when new attractions arrive, the wait times for the former "new" attractions tend to decrease, so although the new attractions and areas may have long wait times and larger crowds, chances are that the other parks and attractions will have shorter wait times and smaller crowds that can work in your favor! As much as I wish I could, I really can't predict what the crowds will be like then, but I will say that there is no bad time and crowds are never too large for you to have a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
Have a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!
