About Me
I am an adjunct instructor of Sociology at a technical college, an Army wife, and a dog mom to a six-pound Chihuahua named Jack Sparrow. Like my fellow panelists, I am Disney-obsessed, but that obsession only escalates when I get to talk to people about going to the Walt Disney World Resort!
Many people question why I always choose Disney World as my go-to vacation spot, especially because I don’t have any children. I make sure to tell them the ability to experience Disney magic has no age—Disney is a magical escape to a “world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy!” There is just something about driving into the Walt Disney World Resort that transports you into a completely new realm—a place where tears are nowhere to be found, smiles are required, and there’s only magic in sight!
Most of all, I love Disney because there, you can let all of your worries of the “real world” melt away, and you can spend quality time with your loved ones surrounded by happiness… and Dole Whips!
About My Family
First, I have to mention my amazing mom and dad who have always supported my love for Disney. From taking all of those family vacations to Disney when I was growing up, to helping my husband and I have the perfect Disney themed wedding, they have been there for every step of my growing love of all things Disney. They have always encouraged me to follow my passions and were almost as excited as I was when I found out I had been selected as a panelist this year!
Then, of course, there is my Prince Charming—who just happens to be an Officer in the U.S. Army. We met in class during college at Clemson University. He asked me if I wanted to work on a lab with him, and the rest is history. Soon after meeting, I realized he loved Disney as much as I did, which only helped to fuel our mutual obsession. Every vacation we have taken together has been to Walt Disney World, including our honeymoon! We couldn’t think of any place we would rather be!
Last, but certainly not least, I have to mention my amazing puppy, Jack Sparrow. A few months after we got married, my husband and I were out looking for our first pet and met Jack. He and his cute little face followed us around, so of course I had to hold him. Now, two years later, I am a proud dog mom, and Jack has the doggy wardrobe to prove it!
About My Disney Experience
I grew up taking family vacations to Walt Disney World with my grandparents and parents, so of course I have countless childhood memories of being there and enjoying the experience. Now, I have been able to experience the magic as an adult with my parents and with my amazing husband! We always used to try to visit at least once a year, but recently we have been taking multiple trips a year. We just can’t stay away!
I love staying at the resorts, sampling all the different foods, experiencing all the attractions, and of course, taking some quality time to go shopping! However, I must say, there’s nothing like walking into Magic Kingdom Park and seeing Cinderella Castle. It is simply breathtaking.
Although it is tough to choose, my most exciting moment in the Walt Disney World Resort to-date is getting the chance to ride on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before it was officially open to the public! My husband and I were on a trip a few days before the official opening and happened to be there when they were doing testing… talk about luck!
