    Hello Mom's Panel. I have a DD 9 who is super excited for her first Disney trip. She has been researching herself and wants to get into the Pin Trading. Any suggestions for first timers? Thanks for all of the advice, it is more helpful than you know!

    Hi Sara! I'm so excited for your daughter's first Disney trip! My girl started pin trading about the same age, and absolutely loved it! We started by purchasing a few basic pins, as well as some that are her favourites. Initially, she had the pin lanyard that she wore around her neck, but as she kept expanding her collection, it got very heavy. What she does now is just takes a few pins with her to the parks. Sometimes, she'll pin them to her baseball hat or tee shirt, which makes them easily accessible.

    Basically, you will see that cast members either have a lanyard or a square-shaped swatch with pins on them. She simply needs to ask them if they have pins to trade. Technically, the "rules" allow for guests to trade up to two pins with each cast member. Be sure she asks them even if she doesn't see them, as sometimes they keep their pins behind the counter. At first my daughter was very shy, but it didn't take long for her to go straight up and ask. Some cast members also have a 'mystery pin', where they have it flipped backwards so you don't know what to get - my daughter always goes for that one!

    Disney's Pin Traders at Downtown Disney offers the largest pin selection in Disney World. They have pins for every occasion, and there are often pin collectors outside who have some real interesting ones to buy or trade.
