We want to do the Paint the Night Dining package, but are not finding the adult food option appealing. Are we able to pay the adult price, but ask for the kids food option instead?

Hello there, Sydney! Welcome to planDisney! Oh boy, your magical visit to the Disneyland Resort is just around the corner next month! June is such a wonderful time to visit, with those lovely long evenings perfect for spectaculars like the Paint the Night parade. Speaking of which, planning for that dazzling parade with a Plaza Inn Dining Package is a fantastic idea—combining delicious food with reserved viewing is practically a pixie-dusted dream!

I see you were looking at the dining package menu, which currently features a hearty mushroom gravy-glazed meatloaf for adults. It definitely sounds like classic comfort, but I completely understand that meatloaf—or mushrooms, for that matter—might not be everyone’s favorite.

You asked a great question about whether you could swap the adult entrée for a selection from the children's menu. Since I wanted to give you the most accurate information straight from the resort, I double-checked this with a friendly Cast Member. They confirmed that the dining package menus are designed specifically for different age groups, and unfortunately, adults do need to order from the designated adult menu options. The children's menu is reserved exclusively for little Mouseketeers aged 3 through 9. But don't worry! Plaza Inn often has wonderfully creative chefs who aim to please various palates. Besides the meatloaf, they’ll also be offering a plant-based option for adults as part of the dining package. This might be a delicious alternative for you if the meatloaf isn't calling your name.

Now, I understand that this might not be the exact news you were hoping for, especially when you're trying to craft that perfect parade-viewing experience. If having that prime, reserved viewing spot for the electrifying Paint the Night parade is high on your wishlist, I have another wonderful suggestion that might just be the perfect fit for you: the A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour!

The reason I mention this tour specifically is that it also includes access to that coveted reserved viewing area for the Paint the Night parade! This special tour, celebrating magnificent Disneyland Resort milestones, takes you on a curated journey through the park. But hold onto your Mickey ears, because there's more! You'll also get to experience beloved attractions like a trip aboard the majestic Mark Twain Riverboat and historic Disneyland Railroad, all while hearing fascinating stories about the park's legacy. And here’s a fun perk: the tour includes one of Disneyland's most iconic snacks—popcorn!—which you can enjoy while watching the Paint the Night parade from your special viewing spot. It’s a fantastic way to combine history, fun attractions, a tasty treat, and get that reserved parade viewing. I am such a huge fan of the guided tours at Disneyland. In fact, just this past weekend, I enjoyed the Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour with my fellow planDisney panelists, JoAnna and Kriss!

So, Sydney, while the Plaza Inn dining package might require a little flexibility, you have another magical alternative path to securing that wonderful view for Paint the Night. I hope this gives you some helpful options to consider! Wishing you the most spectacular time planning the details for your trip next month. Have a magical day!
