Hi there, Belinda! Thanks so much for sailing by planDisney with your question.
As a girl who also refuses to accept the “beach hair, don’t care” motto, I completely understand wanting to bring your GHD straightener along! The ocean breezes on Deck 4 can definitely wreak havoc, especially when you’re trying to get that perfect sunset photo with smooth, Rapunzel-like hair.
The good news is that you can use your hair straightener onboard the
Disney Wonder. Flat irons and curling irons are permitted on Disney Cruise Line ships, unlike clothes irons or steamers which aren’t allowed. Your GHD likely has an Australian plug, which is a Type I, and
the outlets in your stateroom will be a mix of North American 110V and European 220V. The Australian plug won’t fit directly into either one, so you’ll just need a simple adapter that allows your plug to fit into a European-style outlet (Type F or C). If you’re not sure whether your GHD is dual-voltage, you can check the serial number or look it up online. Most newer models are fine to use with just an adapter, but some older ones may need a converter.
One little tip from experience...don’t plug your straightener into the outlet in the bathroom. It doesn’t have enough power for heat-styling tools, and I learned that the hard way when I couldn’t figure out why my blow dryer wasn’t working! You’ll find the proper outlets at the vanity or desk area instead.
Also, each stateroom does include a hairdryer if you need it, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably prefer your own. And if you want some pampering while you’re onboard, the
Senses Spa & Salon is wonderful. They offer blowouts and styling services. I had my hair done there before dinner at Palo once, and I really liked the results!
I hope this helps, Belinda! Wishing you smooth sailing and even smoother hair!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
