Hi Jake,
Welcome to planDisney! We love a good fishing excursion in our family and Disney World is no exception. The
fishing excursions at Disney World are a blast but if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive way to get your fishing fix then heading over to
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is a great option for some dockside fishing.
There is no fee to fish from the docks unless you need to rent a pole from the Fishin' Hole at Ol' Man Island. All rental fishing poles will be a cane pole but you are welcome to bring your fishing pole at no charge. There are no restrictions on what type of pole you can use when fishing here but make sure you abide by the catch-and-release rules present at all Disney World properties.
After you finish fishing, make sure to head over to
Muddy Rivers for a cocktail and snack. If you are looking for a more filling meal, I like to take the water taxi over to Disney Springs. There are so many wonderful options for dining at Disney Springs that it is hard to even recommend just a few but I will do my best to pick. If you want a quicker meal, my favorite spot to stop is
The Polite Pig. The barbeque here is delicious and they have a great drink menu to go along with it. For a more formal sit-down meal, check out
Morimoto Asia. The ribs here are something that I dream about because they are so incredibly delicious. There are also a lot of options for everyone including picky eaters and people looking for something a little more adventurous. If you want a good seafood meal after fishing,
The Boathouse is the perfect place to chill on the water and grab some of the freshest seafood around.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
