We ordered 5 wristbands for our upcoming visit. The 6 year old doesn’t like hers now that she sees it. Can we trade? At what point do they become associated with an individual? (3 adults, a 13 yo, and a 6 yo. The adults don’t mind trading with her.)

    Hey there, Homer!

Welcome to planDisney! It sounds like your family is all set to unlock the magic of Walt Disney World Resort with your MagicBands! These wristbands are a game-changer—giving you easy access to theme park entry, Lightning Lane selections, Disney PhotoPass images, and even your Disney Resort hotel room. Plus, they come in so many fun designs that it's easy to find one that fits your style!

Now, let's talk about your 6-year-old's MagicBand dilemma. If you ordered your MagicBands through My Disney Experience as part of your Disney Resort hotel stay, each band was likely linked to a specific Guest when you selected the colors or designs. That means they generally can't be transferred to someone else once assigned. In rare cases, the My Disney Experience, MagicBand and MagicBand+ team (which you can contact through the Help Center) may be able to assist if the band hasn't been used yet, but there's no guarantee.

If you purchased the MagicBands separately, such as through Disneystore.com or a retail location,  chances are they haven't been linked yet. That means you can swap them around your family until everyone is happy! Once you've decided who's wearing what, you must assign the MagicBands to each Guest. Here's how:

    • On the My Disney Experience website, Navigate to My MagicBands and Cards, scroll to the bottom, and select Link a MagicBand.
    • On the My Disney Experience app: Tap the menu (three horizontal lines), scroll to MagicBands & Cards, and select Link Your MagicBand or Card to scan it with your smartphone.

A great first step is to check your My Disney Experience account to see which MagicBands (if any) have already been assigned. Follow the steps above to view your linked bands under each Guest's profile.

And don't worry, Homer. If your little one still isn't thrilled with her band, you can always add another to her collection once you arrive! Pin Traders at Disney Springs and Pin Traders—Camera Center at EPCOT have a massive selection of MagicBands. Since Guests can have multiple MagicBands linked to their accounts, she can pick one that matches her outfit, mood, or even her favorite Disney Princess!

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me another. I'm always happy to help!

    See you real soon!
