How do we opt out of using our finger at the gate?

    Hiya Paul,

Welcome to planDisney! At Walt Disney World Resort, finger scans are used to help verify your identity and make sure that your theme park tickets are not transferred between Guests, which is why you Guests are asked to present them with their tickets (MagicBands, physical ticket card, or electronic barcode) for entry.

One of our alumni panelists, Amy, actually did a deep dive into the finger scans that I wanted to share with you. When your finger is captured the first time, the image is converted into a numerical value unique to you. This numerical value is linked to your ticket as a "Ticket Tag," and your finger's image is deleted. According to Disney's privacy statements, no actual biometric data is saved. That said, I completely understand if you prefer to opt out of the scan! In that case, stop Guest Relations before you head to the entrance turnstiles and request to set up alternative verification. You will then be able to use your valid photo ID for verification (the name on the ID must match the name on the ticket) in place of the finger image.

I hope that was helpful, Paul! Please come back and see us if you need any additional help planning your vacation. We would love to help you!

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
