Howdy, David, and welcome to planDisney! I'm glad you rode by, partner because the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are the wildest cabins in the wilderness. You'll be circling your wagons soon at
Walt Disney World Resort, so let's look at how to keep your young'uns and hound dogs safe during your stay.
I spoke to a local cabin deputy about what size gate you would need to block off the deck stairs, and she sent out a ranch hand to measure for us. She cautioned that some stair widths could vary, especially in handicap-accessible units. But the cabin they measured had an opening of 42" from handrail to handrail. Also, be aware that if your gate is taller than 32", the handrail might block it and prevent it from making firm contact.
The
Walt Disney World Pet Policies state that you can have up to two furry friends in your cabin, and be sure to stop by the front desk to sign the Pet Contract upon check-in. You should receive a special hang tag that will let the staff know pups are present, so please display that whenever you aren't home. If you'd like your cabin cleaned, you will schedule that with the front desk when the dogs won't be there. And anytime your doggos are outside your cabin, the rules state they must be on a leash. These policies are all designed to keep cowboys and "cowdogs" safe!
David, I hope you have a chance to mosey over to catch the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at rustic Pioneer Hall near the campground. This all-you-care-to-eat dinner show is a grand old time for the whole family! I can't wait to try it on my next visit.
I hope your upcoming trip is as cozy as a campfire, David, and
please stop by planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
