I have an onion intolerance. Anyone know how to find out ahead of time which foods I can eat?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Barb! Welcome to planDisney where my favorite topic is eating! I just returned from Walt Disney World Resort, and my husband will vouch that I often start discussing dinner while I'm in the middle of lunch! I wonder if that's because Disney food is so irresistible or because I walk a gazillion steps at the theme parks? My family eats a plant-based diet, so I have some tips for helping you have magical dining experiences on your visit.

First, I suggest you review the Special Dietary Requests page on the website. This page has general information and specific tips for dining at Walt Disney World. Be sure to click "Read More" for details about topics like Allergy-Friendly Requests and Quick Service information.

Since you're still a few days from arrival, I also recommend emailing the Special Dietary Requests team at special.diets@disneyworld.com with a complete list of any allergies or intolerances you have in your party. In your email, you can include the Table and Quick Service restaurants where you plan to eat. The team should reach out to you in a few days with suggestions and recommendations, especially regarding your planned dining.

Another tool is to ask about ingredients at any dining spot you're interested in. Most Table Service restaurants will send the chef out to discuss your needs, and I've had some amazing dishes based on the chef's suggestion. Remember that many Quick Service locations have a binder that details ingredients, but some might not. My son asks for any available packaging if he has questions about an offering's ingredient list.

Do you know what rarely contains onions, Barb? Dessert! So feel free to enjoy DOLE® Whip and churros to your heart's content. My favorite dessert is at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival's Garden Graze food stroll. The Coconut Tres Leches is light, sweet, onion-free perfection!

Barb, I'm waving my Fairy Godmother wand so you'll make unforgettable memories and eat fantastic food on your visit. Please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
