Hi Dorothy!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You are absolutely correct that this Disneyland Dining Plan did focus around the characters that we all known and love, Donald Duck, Goofy, Minnie Mouse & Mickey Mouse!
Unfortunately Disneyland’s Dine in the Magic Dining Plans have been discontinued and at this time there is
no dining plans offered for vacation packages at Disneyland Resort. This retired Dining Plan worked on a voucher system so you would prepay for a certain number of days and you'd receive vouchers up to a total value for each meal. Since this worked more as a voucher than a true Dining Plan, one of the greatest benefits was that you could prepay for everything and lower your expenses while you were actually traveling. Since this is no longer an option, I'd recommend potentially purchasing Disney gift cards leading up to your trip. They can be used at any of the restaurants inside the Disneyland Resort hotels or either of the parks.
Another option is to call and add Character Dining Vouchers to your current package. You'll have two options, the first is the Premium Character Dining voucher which can be used at Ariel’s Grotto in Disney’s California Adventure or any meal at Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. The second option is Character Dining voucher for breakfast only at either the Plaza Inn in Disneyland, PCH Grill in Paradise Pier Hotel or Storytellers Café in Grand Californian Hotel. You can add this by calling 714-520-5060.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
