One security member told us to hold the eyeglasses (one in case and one empty case) in front of our bodies to help prevent the extra screening. Would it help to have a more translucent eyeglass case? We know it's random but want to make it smoother.

    Hey howdy hey, Erin!

Welcome to planDisney. Thanks for visiting us with your question today, that's why we are here! I also grabbed your question when I saw you were from my neighbor state Utah - it's so beautiful there. We must be travel kindred spirits, since I'm from Colorado and love to do the same thing as you... travel to Disney World for our magical vacations!

I had a recent experience with this same issue, so I'm happy to share what I've learned. Entering through park security is actually quite slick these days, as you just carry your bags with you through a metal detector.

Because I apparently like to learn things the hard way, I recently marched through Disney security screening with my metal lined sunglasses case in my bag. That earned me a "Lightning Lane" to the additional side screening! Not a huge deal, but it does slow you down a bit when you are anxious to get your park day started. The helpful Cast Members then shared the same tip with me: hold any metal objects like your phone or glasses cases in front of you, so they can see those objects the screeners are detecting. When they can visually verify the item, often no additional screening is needed.

So any type of case should be ok to bring along, and using a translucent case will probably not make a difference. As long as you hold those items in front of you for the Cast Members to see... you should be good to go! Of course, if you are going through security with a stroller, scooter, or wheelchair, the process will vary and your bags may need to be checked.

I see you are visiting during summer. Did you hear about the awesome perk being offered in 2025, that Disney Resort guests receive free admission to a water park on arrival day? These will show up automatically in your My Disney Experience app under "My Tickets &  Passes" on your check-in day. I hope it works into your plans to use them!

Have a magical stay at Disney World, Erin! Sending you some Colorado pixie-dust! Please visit me again at planDisney any time if I can assist with any other questions, or offer recommendations for your wonderful trip.

    Adventure is out there!
