Hi Karen,
Bon Voyage! I hope you have an amazing time on the Disney Cruise. It is such a wonderful place!
As for the Oceaneer Lab or any of the kids club on the Disney ships, you will need to drag your child from this area. Since only a parent knows how to get a child to leave something they are enjoying, rest assured your child will only go home with you.
On a more serious note, Disney does an amazing job of keeping children safe. Your child will receive a bracelet to wear which has their information encoded. When you register your child, you will provide a password and the names of the adults authorized to pick up your child from the Lab. When your child leaves, they scan your child's bracelet and ask you for the password. This is the only way your child can leave the Lab. Older children have the option to check themselves out however you can decide to do this option or not. Either way you also receive a beeper that works on the ship which the cast members can text you if your child needs you. I never felt uncomfortable leaving my daughters here as it was such a wonderfully safe and fun place!
Wishing you a magical vacation!
Beth
