Hi, Susan! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Depending on your granddaughter’s age and whether or not she’s used the
MagicBand to enter a
Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park before, she may or may not need to scan her own finger to enter. If a parent or guardian has previously provided the scan, simply let a Cast Member at the entrance know. This will take a little extra time, but in addition to the biometric scan, there is a digital photo associated with each Guest when they enter a Walt Disney World Resort
Theme Park or
Water Park. Children three years of age or older may provide their own scan, but whether or not they do so is up to their parent or guardian.
My daughter received her first MagicBand when she turned four, and she loved feeling “grown up” as she got to scan her own finger. We ran into some glitches when she was younger as we struggled to remember which finger she used for the
Ticket Tag system, but a Coordinator at the entrance point was always able to pull up her photo and identify that she was indeed the child to whom the ticket had been assigned. It just took a few extra minutes at the entrance, but we were good to go after that. Just give yourselves some additional time to get your granddaughter checked in and you’ll be enjoying your first attraction together in no time.
My grandparents were the ones who took me to Walt Disney World Resort for the first time when I was a little girl, and I still look back fondly on the memories I made with them then. I hope you and your granddaughter are able to share similar magical moments.
Please let us know if you have any other questions, Susan! We’ll see you real soon.
Amy
