Welcome aboard, Katie! My family and I look forward to our beach day at
Disney's private island each time our cruise itinerary includes a stop there. We do love exploring other ports of call for a taste of the history and culture of those islands, but our favorite beach day is certainly Castaway Cay day!
In true Disney style, transportation is super easy on the island. As you walk off the ship, you can grab complimentary beach towels to use for the day and head to the left off the docks where you'll be able to snap a photo with the ship in the background. Then, a few more hundred feet and you're at the pick up point for the trams. It's not too far to walk to the beach instead, if you enjoy walking and don't have a lot of gear you're hauling, so that's an option too. There is a nice path along the water on the left of the tram that guests use to walk to the first part of Family Beach. But, the trams are part of the fun of Castaway Cay for my kids so we ride always those. The first stop will be Scuttle's Cove stop at Family Beach. Here you'll find the Scuttle's Cove Youth Club and the first section of Family Beach. The second stop is Pelican Plunge stop. As the name implies, you'll be closer to Pelican Plunge water slides and the second part of Family Beach. We usually stay onboard to the second stop so that we're farther up the beach with more options for chairs and umbrellas. Once you set up camp for the day, you can very easily walk all over the island.
To get to Serenity Bay which is the Adult Exclusive beach, you'll need to transfer trams at Pelican Plunge tram stop to the Serenity Bay tram which will take you to the other end of the island for some quieter adult time on that gorgeous beach. If your kids are up for wet and wild (and sandy!) fun at Scuttle's Cove for an hour or so, I encourage you and your husband to sneak away to relax at Serenity Bay!
Have fun, Katie!
