Hi Marian,
Disney World has done a fabulous job of catering to guests of all abilities. There is a
whole guide to navigating the theme parks with a disability that I highly recommend checking out while you plan your vacation. It has a ton of information on which rides will require you to transfer from a wheelchair or mobility device so you know exactly what to expect.
There are no specific accommodations for mobility constraints because each of the theme parks, Disney Springs, and the Resort hotels are handicap accessible. You can either bring your own mobility device,
rent one at the entrance to each theme park, or have an ECV rental delivered to your Disney Resort hotel!
If you need an ECV or wheelchair throughout your whole trip and not just while you are in the theme parks, I would rent one from Disney World’s preferred provider, ScooterBug. They are the only provider that can deliver directly to your Disney Resort hotel without you signing for it. This ensures you have a device waiting for you when you arrive so you don’t have to wait for the fun to begin. Once you arrive, head to
Bell Services to pick up your mobility device and they will get you all set up. When you finish your trip, they can also ensure it gets back to the rental provider so your trip is seamless.
I would also check with the Front Desk at your Resort hotel for guidance on where to charge your device in the evening while you sleep. Some rooms are better equipped to accommodate ECVs and they are skilled at helping your find the best way to store and charge your mobility device depending on what room type you have.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
