Hi David, and welcome to planDisney. I still use my MagicBand 2 all the time at
Disney World and
Aulani in Hawaii, so I’d be happy to walk you through linking your band so you're all set for your visit!
At Disney World,
MagicBands are linked to a person’s profile in
My Disney Experience. Those profiles are connected to theme park tickets,
Lightning Lane selections, and
Disney Resort hotel reservations, which is how they’re linked to your MagicBand.
To add a MagicBand to your profile, open the
My Disney Experience app, go to ☰ in the lower right corner, and then MagicBands & Cards (under Account). Scroll to the bottom of the screen and press Link Your MagicBand or Card. Then select Type ID towards the top of the screen. Under Admission Media, you’ll see a field to input an ID Number. This is the code found on the back of your MagicBand (typically a mix of several numbers and letters). Next, it’ll prompt you to choose which person you’d like to assign the band to. Be sure to double-check your selection since MagicBands are permanently assigned to one profile at Disney World!
For everything to work seamlessly, you’ll want to make sure your Disney Resort hotel reservation and theme park ticket are linked to the same profile as your MagicBand. You can check this in the app. Go back to the ☰ menu and go to Hotel Reservations (under My Visit). Your next resort hotel stay will appear here, and, if you scroll down to Guests, you should see everyone’s profile that is linked to the stay. Next, return to the ☰ menu and select My Tickets & Passes towards the top of the screen. Here, you should see your name associated with your ticket. If you’re having any issues, I’d recommend calling the
App and MagicBand Support phone number. Anytime I’ve had reservations assigned to the wrong profile, a Cast Member was happy to help troubleshoot!
September is such a fun time to be at Disney World, with Magic Kingdom decorated in BOO-tiful pumpkins and the International Food & Wine Festival going on over at EPCOT. Start getting excited because
Disney Parks Blog just posted information on where to find all of the amazing
characters at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the
foodie guide for the festival. I’ll be attending both events this fall, so I’m already strategizing!
I’m wishing you the best vacation ever at Disney World next month. And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome here at planDisney!
