Will Old Key West resort have a New Years Eve party this year to ring in 2022? If so, what kind of fun things are planned? Also, will you be able to see the Epcot New Years Eve fireworks from the resort?

    Hello Kristen!

I can’t believe it, but the holidays really are right around the corner. My family was just discussing our Thanksgiving plans, and New Year’s Eve isn’t far behind!

While I have never visited the Walt Disney World Resort on New Year’s Eve, it is my understanding that in the past, there have been fun dance parties at some resorts, including Disney’s Old Key West Resort. With the parks just reopening after the pandemic in 2020, I don’t believe there were parties last year. However, at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, the Gurgling Suitcase Libations & Spirits did stay open to ring in the New Year with Guests!

At this point, while you and I may be ready to make those plans, Disney has not released any specific details about New Year’s Eve. As of today, we don’t even have published theme park hours for the end of December 2021. I would think by the middle of November we should know park hours, more about events taking place in the theme parks, and any special Enchanting Extras such as exclusive dinners or dessert parties. Since any resort-specific parties would be organized by the Recreation Cast Members at that resort, holiday plans aren’t typically published anywhere in advance but are publicized to Guests of that resort just a day or two before the event.

While you technically can see some of the higher Epcot fireworks from a few locations at Disney's Old Key West Resort, the view is extremely limited and obscured. You can sometimes see a few on from the bridge between the Hospitality House and the Peninsular Road area. The few fireworks that you can see would be few and far between, and more incidental. It wouldn't feel like you were truly getting to view a show.

I would recommend you keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as the holidays approach, as this is where holiday announcements will be made. You can also check back with us closer to the holiday itself to see if more information is available!

    Happy Planning!
