Ahoy, Jennifer!
Thank you for stopping by to "sea" us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. We are excited to help you plan your magical vacation aboard Disney Cruise Line. My family loves cruising because it gives us all an opportunity to experience some fabulous
on board activities both as a family and individually. For example, my son loves playing GAGA ball in the
Oceaneer Lab and won't miss this event for anything. But, when we want to enjoy time together, we might go play one of the family game shows or Disney Trivia. There really is so much to choose from on board a Disney ship.
I'm not aware of a set age that children do not need to be accompanied by an adult on board. The
Oceaneer Club and Lab does allow children to check themselves in and out with parental consent when they are 8. This option is completely up to you. When children reach the tween program,
Edge, they do have the ability to come and go as often as they'd like during hours of operation. Edge is designed for ages 11-14.
The amount of freedom your children have on the ship will be up to you. My family always makes a game plan each day so everyone is clear before we head in separate directions. Sticky notes and dry erase boards are helpful if your children don't have mobile devices to communicate using the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app (free for download for Apple or Android devices).
Good luck with your planning!
Nancy
