    Hello! O.k. I'm SUPER excited about our trip DW in Jan! I'm trying to find ways to surprise my girls (ages 10 & 7) with the trip as it is part of their Christmas. Any ideas???

    I have tried this twice, and watched videos of hundreds of other such surprise reveals for kids. They can sometimes end with less than desired results. What I have found is that you have to keep it simple. The more complex the reveal of the vacation is, the more confused they get, and instead of that magical "SURPRISE" moment, you get some awkward fumbling around and a bit of a deflated experience.

    What I see work best over and over again is that they open a large box as part of opening presents. Trapped inside are 3-4 balloons in classic Walt Disney World colors (red, yellow, and black), with a note either tied to them as they rise, or sitting inside the box stating that they are "Going to Walt Disney World!". If you can get some of the park maps, some travel guide books, and other fun printed planning materials in there too, it gives them something to start thumbing through. Other things you might add in;

    Print out the information page on your resort
    Print out menus from some of the more fun restaurants you plan to visit
    Have some 'coupons' in there granting them the right to buy a shirt or toy

    You don't really have to spend money on the reveal (you are already doing that on the trip, right!?!), but keeping the message direct and to the point will help them get is faster, and improve the overall experience for them, and you! 

    Now I have other ideas, so if this does not fit the bill, write me more about what they like and I can share some other successful reveal ideas.
