Hi Heather! I can't even tell you how excited I am to answer your question about
shoes at
Walt Disney World Resort, two of my very favorite things!
You are correct; a Walt Disney World vacation does involve a lot of time on your feet. You will want something supportive and comfortable. Athletic shoes generally fit the bill, but in warmer months they can be hot and sweaty, leading to blisters. Also, since you'll be visiting during summer you will want to be prepared for the occasional Florida downpour. Soggy sneakers are definitely no fun! Many guests combat the heat and rain by wearing flip-flops, but I find they are slippery in the rain and not supportive enough for walking all day.
My perfect park shoes are Keen sandals. I would describe them as a waterproof hiking sandal. They are kind of rugged looking, so maybe not the cutest shoe in my closet, but I have walked miles in them with no issues. Keens are available in men's, women's, and kid's styles, and the best part is they are machine washable! I have worn my Keen Whisper sandals fresh out of the box without needing to break them in.
My Moms Panel friends also recommend their favorites: Havaianas are preferred by Julie (who suggests stopping by the store in
Disney Springs), Angie loves her Teva sandals, and Eean and Rayna both like Crocs. Rayna prefers the Kadee and Eve ballet flat styles. Quite a few of us also wear TOMS in the parks when the weather is dry and not too hot.
I hope that helps! If you need information about my other favorite topic, ice cream, please write back!
