Hi Sandy and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I think the saying great minds think alike rings true, because my family and I will be visiting the same weekend as yours! My six-year-old’s favorite ride happens to be
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland, after all, it is the wildest ride in the wilderness!
My family and I have walked, and we’ve also hopped aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street, U.S.A to get to Frontierland. I personally enjoy taking the ride on the train. I feel like the scenic route aboard the train takes just as long as walking, because you must maneuver around other guests in the park to get to Frontierland.
You will find that Frontierland does not fill up as quickly as Fantasyland and you will have the opportunity to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain with little to no wait times! We’ve been known to ride Big Thunder three times in a row before I cry uncle and move on to a different attraction!
Sandy, passengers will be able to board the Walt Disney Railroad as soon as the park opens. If it fills up quickly, don’t worry, another train is on the tracks and will be picking you up in less than 10 minutes.
It’s important to note that if you’re a guest at a Disney Resort hotel, you will be able to enjoy Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom Park, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on May 18th. All other guests will be able to enter the park at 9:00 a.m. You can keep track of all park hours by looking at the
Park Hours Calendar. It’s a great tool!
I hope this information is helpful. Have a magical trip!
