Hi, Robert! There are a few buffet options in the area outside Walt Disney World - including a Ponderosa and a Golden Corral. There is also a salad buffet location not too far from the Downtown Disney area called Sweet Tomatoes (salad, soups, and usually baked potatoes or a pasta). I have to warn you though, they can get quite crowded, and if you don't have your own vehicle, it may be more of an expense and hassle to get there than it's worth.
The All Star Movies resort has a great food court with reasonably priced meals, and there are quite a few buffet options at Walt Disney World. The two year old eats free at a Walt Disney World buffet, and the children under nine pay a child's price for meals. My oldest daughter and I just shared a few meals at one of the value resort food courts this past weekend, and found them pretty substantial in portion size.
You can also plan to have some food in your rooms. I like to keep things like granola bars, cereal bars, and some fresh fruit (bananas or apples) in our room. You can rent a small refrigerator at a Value resort, but I usually don't have anything with me that needs refrigeration.
It can be a challenge to stick to a budget when it comes to food, but you can do it with a bit of planning! And keep checking our webite or
www.disneyworld.com for future discounts and promotions like the free dining offers.
