Can we get off the ship at Georgetown, Grand Cayman with our ID and birth certificate or do we have to have a passport to get on and off the ship there?

    Ahoy Brittany!

So nice to "sea" you here at planDisney. I'd be happy to help answer your question.

Based on your travel date, I believe you'll be sailing on the 5-night Western Caribbean itinerary on Disney Magic. This itinerary departs from Miami, Florida and includes a stop at George Town, Grand Cayman, Disney Castaway Cay (my personal favorite cruise destination), and 2 days at sea. This sounds like a fantastic way to relax and soak up the sun as you prepare to welcome the summer season!

You'll want to review the required documents listed on Passports, Visas & Citizenship Documentation. Currently, all US Citizens (including children) must present an Original Valid US Passport OR an Original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate AND Government-issued photo ID in order to board the ship at the start of your cruise. You can confirm any additional requirements for your specific itinerary via the "My Reservations" link under the "Already Booked" tab on the Disney Cruise Line website. Be sure not to pack any of these documents in your checked luggage as you arrive to the port. You'll need to have these on-hand along with your printed Online Check-In Port Arrival Form.

I reached out to a Cast Member to confirm the necessary forms of ID for disembarking the ship at George Town. All guests will need to have their Key to the World card available, and either a Government issued ID or Passport. The Cast Member advised that your Government issued driver's license would be sufficient if you don't want to carry your passport with you. They also advised that guests under the age of 16 do not need to carry their birth certificate but will need to disembark and re-embark with a parent or guardian. If you have any additional questions you can always call to speak with a Cast Member.

You'll access George Town via tender boat on the date of your visit, so keep your travel time back to the ship in mind when planning your day. There are a number of fantastic Port Adventures to choose from so I'm sure you'll find something to suit your travel party's interests. Your sailing is also part of Disney Cruise Line's Silver Anniversary at Sea celebration so don't miss snapping a photo with Captain Minnie Mouse in her specialty  sparkly attire.

We're always all hands on deck here at planDisney so sail on back with more planning questions!

    "Sea" you real soon,
    Amy
