Hi Jennifer,
I always think the sooner you book the better if you find a deal. You can guarantee the resort you want and you will know the amount of money you need to spend. In addition, if you sign up alerts from Disney or like the Walt Disney World Facebook page, you will get alerts on deals. Mousesavers.com and Allearsnet.com also list specials. In general, you should look for fall deals starting in June/July.
While there is no guarantee of a special, you can always save money with these tips:
Only purchase a Magic Your Way ticket without any additional upgrades such as park hopping. Without the pressure to park hop, you can spend all day in just one park and enjoy the little extras such as an impromptu show on the streets of Disney's Hollywood Studios or petting an animal in Animal Kingdom.
Bring snacks to the parks or split a meal. I think there is a lot of food served with a meal. I often split a meal with my husband at lunch. Another trick is to eat a table service lunch versus dinner. Some restaurants offer the same menu at lunch and dinner but have a price increase at dinner.
Limit your souvenir budget. We give our daughter's a set amount each trip to spend as they want. This allows them to manage their budget and the constant wanting of everything is eliminated.
I have only heard great things about the
Art of Animation but have not stayed there. The suites have a microwave and refrigerator so you can eat breakfast in your room which is another price saver. I order from the Garden Grocer to save on my food bill.
Wishing you a magical vacation!
Beth
