Hi Megan!
For nurses, the pinning ceremony is an honored tradition celebrating all that the new nurse has accomplished in their studies. I remember my pinning ceremony well, and it was an exciting day for my class, our families, and our instructors. If you are a Disney family, I think a Nurse’s Day pin for your daughter is a beautiful idea, especially as many schools may not hold their pinning ceremonies this year.
Disney enjoys promoting pins and making them special by doing limited edition pins and by having special release days. While they have not released any information yet on a Nurse’s Day Pin, since there has been one released for almost twenty years, I am hopeful that there will be one for 2021.
My favorite is the 2016 Baymax Nurse’s Day Pin. I remember going to see the movie and laughing out loud when Baymax showed the pain scale! As a charge nurse on labor and delivery, the younger nurses laugh at my version of the pain scale, so that scene really gave me the giggles, and I just HAD to have that pin! Blessedly, a friend and fellow Disney fan was going to be in the parks on the day the pin was to be released, and she was able to purchase one and ship it to me.
You mentioned not being able to get one online in the past, and that is because these pins are not usually released online, and can only be purchased in person at either the
Disneyland Resort or the
Walt Disney World Resort. While in 2020 the pin was released via
shopDisney, this was because the theme parks were closed. In 2019, the Nurse’s Day Pin was released in the parks on May 2. There are a few unofficial Disney pin trading websites that do post announcements of upcoming pin releases, and I would watch those over the next two weeks or so for any further information. If you have your heart set on snagging a pin or two, I would highly recommend looking into getting them directly from the parks. Perhaps post on your social media platforms asking if any friends will be there during the first week of May. Alternately, there are personal shoppers in the Orlando area that will go to the parks to make such purchases for you, and might be able to send you a pixie dusted delivery right to your door!
Sending you some of that pixie dust now for good luck in securing one of these coveted pins. And from one Disney nurse to another, congratulations to your daughter on her nursing school graduation. I can only imagine you must be so very proud of her.
