Welcome to planDisney, Sara!
This is a GREAT question and one I ask myself all the time! Believe me, I have crunched the numbers on this more than once.
At this time, new
Annual Pass sales have been temporarily paused. Although we do not yet have word on when they might resume, I recommend keeping your eye on the
Passholder page for updates and
Disney Parks Blog for any announcements.
In the meantime, I would think about how many trips to Walt Disney World Resort you might take in a year's time and how many days of theme park admission you would likely need for each trip. Then compare the cost of purchasing those tickets separately to the annual pass purchase price. Since annual passes include the ability to park hop when making your calculations be sure to look at the cost of
tickets that include the park hopper option. Don't forget to also factor in the
perks and benefits of becoming an Annual Passholder.
Annual Passholders receive complimentary
theme park parking and are eligible for
discounts on dining, merchandise, recreation activities, and
more. Occasionally there are
special offers on hotel stays as well.
Having an Annual Pass also changes the way I plan my visits. I am able to visit the parks for a few hours on my arrival or departure days, or even just pop in for a little while without feeling like I am "wasting" a day on my ticket. And a word of caution -- it will suddenly become much easier to justify planning a quick getaway!
Sarah, I hope we'll hear something soon about Annual Pass sales resuming. If you have any other questions about planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, please stop by planDisney again anytime. We are always happy to help.
