I've noticed from various sites that tipping housekeeping is expected. Is this correct? Would the amount vary between hotel levels? What is a fair amount to leave and is it left daily or at the end of the stay?

    Hi Penny,

Tipping whether for housekeeping or dining service is always at the discretion of the person receiving the service. As always, it is optional throughout the Walt Disney World Resort and even frowned upon at some spots such as the Bibbity Boppity Boutique!

The amount you tip for housekeeping should not vary between resorts. A general rule of thumb is $2 a day per person for the length of stay. So my family of 4 should figure $8 a day for our vacation.

I generally leave the tip at the end of the trip. I adjust my 'tip' based on service. If it is great, I leave more.  If it is not at a level I expect, I leave less. You should tip the amount you feel comfortable with.

In addition, if I am staying in my Disney Vacation Club timeshare, I tip based on the number of days I receive housekeeping. I do not have them come daily when staying in my timeshare so I tip the day rate for the number of times housekeeping comes in plus the arrival day for preparing my home.

    Hope this helps!
