Ahoy there, Emmanual!
Welcome back and thank you so much for trusting our advice at planDisney. We love to help you with your Disney vacations, and I’m glad you asked for clarity on this fun feature prior to your
Disney Cruise Line vacation. The
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App really comes to life once you
flip into “onboard mode” at the port terminal or once on the ship, but at home it has a few helpful features prior to sailing.
The whimsical cruise countdown features favorite Disney, Pixar,
Star Wars, and Marvel characters displaying the days, hours, minutes, and even seconds until your fabulous vacation! I confirmed that the milestone this tool counts down to is 12:01 A.M. on embarkation day, aligned with the departure port time zone. As the exact sail away time can vary with each itinerary, sail date, and even shift for last-minute weather or other logistics, this milestone will simply be your departure day rather than an exact time. It’s so exciting to wake up on your sail date and see the fun characters all set to 0; I always take a screenshot of this fun view to start my vacation photo album.
My family likes to prioritize attending
Mickey's Sail-A-Wave Party on our embarkation day - find the exact time for this fun event listed in your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App once onboard. During that exciting party, our favorite characters will lead a final countdown with you and celebrate when we actually pull away from the pier and head on our way, officially in "vacation mode."
If you’re unsure if the display is accurate for your cruise countdown, please check a few things. Be sure your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App is updated to the latest version and that you have entered your cruise reservation number correctly into the app. Double check that your phone settings are to your own local time, but know that the Disney Cruise Line clock is aligned to the time zone of your departure port so could appear to be off from your own calculations.
I hope this helps you finalize your special vacation during this magical holiday season, Emmanual! Please let us know if you have other questions before you sail.
Wishing you a magical cruise,
Amy
