    Not there yet and already thinking about our next trip in 2015. When is the best time to tent camp at FW? Is there shelter in case of a storm at night? Does disney have or rent tents at the campsites? TY!

    Hi Jessica,

    Fort Wilderness is one of the original places to stay at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Not only do you have different housing options such as tents, RVs or cabins, you have a ton of activities right on site.

    Since weather is always an issue, I would recommend anytime of the year but the winter when temperatures can dip. Rain happens at least once a day in the summer but this can be managed. I once camped in a hurricane in a tent so rain really does not bother me in the tent.

    In the event of a large storm such as a hurricane, Disney will relocate guests to other resorts as safety is important. For a thunderstorm, you should be fine in your tent but you could stay in the cleaning stations if you wanted. However, if weather is a concern, I recommend a cabin at Fort Wilderness especially if you are not a regular tent camper.

    As for tent rentals, Disney does rent tents to groups of 20 or more at Creekside Meadow. Tents are $30 a day and $10 a person. You would need to check availability prior to checking in.
